Event management major finds home in AESHM

Iowa State University and the College of Human Sciences introduced the new event management major and minor for the Spring 2011 semester. The apparel, educational studies, and hospitality management (AESHM) department will house event management – a 123-credit, comprehensive program in one of today’s hottest job areas.

High demand for this major from incumbent and prospective students encouraged department chair Robert Bosselman to get serious about a program that would prepare students to plan, budget, and implement conferences, corporate functions, and other special events for the public and private sectors. The event management major is the only four-year program of its kind in the Midwest, and complements the three other highly-recognized programs in AESHM: apparel, merchandising, and design; family and consumer sciences education; and hospitality management.
