Parsons to present environmentally-friendly apparel research at Rossmann-Manatt lecture

Historical textiles, design, and sustainability will come together under the umbrella of exploratory research as part of the 2010 Rossmann-Manatt lecture, led by Jean Parsons, recipient of the 2010 Rossmann-Manatt faculty development award. The lecture will be held Monday, March 7, from 4:10 – 5 p.m. in the LeBaron Auditorium on the Iowa State University campus.  It is free and open to the public.

The associate professor in apparel, educational studies, and hospitality management is conducting a historical analysis of patents for garments constructed from minimalist, one-piece patterns, and using these concepts to inform her own designs. This research, she says, is taking many of her own interests in new directions.
