Erin Maltby

Erin Maltby is a master\'s student studying student affairs from Clive.

Erin Maltby hopes to work as a director of career services. When she isn’t working or completing her assistantship, she enjoys performing in a jazz quintet, watching live music shows, and being part the community of jazz musicians.

Alejandro Dominguez

Alejandro Dominguez is a master\'s student studying student affairs from St. Louis, Missouri.

Alejandro Dominguez intends to continue working with the Department of Residence. When he isn’t on the job or completing his assistantship, he enjoys catching student-discount movies on Tuesdays and watching Netflix.

Kelsie Poe

Kelsie interns with the College of Business Undergraduate Programs Office as an Academic Adviser.

Kelsie Poe is working on attaining her Masters of Education with an Emphasis in Student Affairs.

Kelsie Poe is a second-year graduate student from Sioux City, IA. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2013 where she received a degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. Kelsie is currently working with the College of Business Undergraduate Programs Office as an Academic Adviser.

Kristin Sheffield

Kristin Sheffield is the K-12 Curriculum Director for the Earlham Community School District.

Kristin Sheffield is currently working towards her M.Ed. in Educational Administration and principal licensure here at ISU.

Kristen Sheffield was raised on a farm in Gravity, Iowa. Kristin earned her B.A. in Secondary English Education from William Penn University in 2001 and an M.S. in Education with a specialization in Literacy from Walden University in 2007. In 2002, Kristin began teaching English in the Earlham Community School District, where she then moved into the Secondary Curriculum Director position in 2010, and is now currently the K-12 Curriculum Director.

David Ford

David Ford researches the role PK-12 education plays in producing college and career-ready students.

David Ford is attending Iowa State University to receive his Ph.D., in Education/Educational Leadership.

I currently serve as District At-Risk/Counseling Coordinator for the Southeast Polk Community School District. I completed undergraduate studies at St. Francis University (PA) and earned Masters Degrees in Counseling from The College of Saint Rose (NY) and in Educational Leadership from Drake University. I have worked as a School Counselor for 16 years and holds licenses in New York and Iowa in education, school counseling, and educational administration. I serve as a Clinical Professor for Drake University and Buena Vista University, teaching graduate classes in education, counseling, and research.

Rumor Clark

Is a senior studying elementary education from Ogden.

Rumor Clark takes advantage of all the different opportunities Iowa State offers while studying elementary education. She has studied abroad, joined dance clubs, and became a photographer. 

Jared Seliger

Jared Seliger is an associate professor and Director of the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program at Allen College in Waterloo.

Jared Seliger is a Ph.D. candidate in Education with an emphasis on Community College Leadership.

Jared Seliger is a native of Waterloo, Iowa where he also currently works as Associate Professor and Director of the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program at Allen College.  In 2000, Jared earned his B.S. degree in Science from Loras College.  Shortly after that, he receive his certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology from the University of Iowa. In 2006, Jared earned his MBA degree from the University of Northern Iowa.

Matt Robie

Matt Robie researches how schools are recognizing, supporting, and respecting the unique and diverse needs of talented and gifted students.

Matt Robie, a Burlington, Iowa native, is a graduate student in the Educational Administration program, pursuing an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership. He is currently a K-5 instructional coach at Prairie Trail Elementary School in Ankeny and is president of the Iowa Talented and Gifted Association.

Stephanie Tigges

Stephanie Tigges is a senior studying elementary education from Clive.

As a member of the Greek community, fundraiser for Dance Marathon, and leader of countless other organizations, Stephanie Tigges is taking advantage of everything her Iowa State University experience offers.

Denise Williams

Denise Williams researches experiences of military and Veteran students attending higher education institutions.

Denise Williams is obtaining her Ph.D. in Education (Higher Education) with a certificate in Applied Research Methods in Human Sciences.

I’m a military brat and don’t have a true hometown, but I have lived in Japan, England, California, and Nebraska. I earned my B.S. in psychology from Iowa State, my M.Ed. in College Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia, and currently work in the Multicultural Student Affairs Office for ISU.

Lori Phillips

Lori Phillips grew up in Emmetsburg and is and 8/9th grade principal.

Lori Phillips is acquiring her PhD in Educational Administration.

I was born in Primgahr, Iowa and grew up in Emmetsburg, Iowa. I have been a middle school principal for 15 years. I began my administrative career in Eagle Grove, Iowa, and I am currently an 8/9th grade principal at the Meadows Building in the Dallas Center-Grimes Community School District.

Abby Rubsam

From clubs and organizations to research projects, Abigail Rubsam is taking advantage of all activities Iowa State has to offer.

Abby Rubsam has taken advantage of experiences that go beyond Iowa State’s books and lectures. From on-campus clubs and organizations to research projects, the sophomore in dietetics is hoping to use each experience, along with what she’s learned through the dietetics program, to share her love for food and nutrition with others.

Stephanie Williams

Stephanie Williams is a senior in hospitality management who feels most at home when she is in the kitchen.

Stephanie Williams decided to come to Iowa State for its well-known hospitality management program. As a senior in her program, she enjoys the hands-on experiences, like working in the Joan Bice Underwood Tearoom, that her program provides. 

Jessica Fox

Jessica Fox, a senior in hospitality management, hopes to use her degree to make a difference in the hospitality industry.

Jessica Fox knew she wanted to earn a degree in hospitality management after an experience through the Disney College Program. After hearing about Iowa State University’s well-recognized hospitality management program, Jessica knew she was meant to earn her degree as a Cyclone.

Sidney Pezley

Sidney Pezley, a senior in event management, aspires to manage events for a non-profit organization.

Sidney Pezley, a senior in event management, is applying her knowledge and experience to real-life situations right on Iowa State’s campus. In the past year she has interned as a conference manager for Iowa State’s Conference Services Department and served as a member of the events committee for the Inter-Residence Hall Association.

Tricia Shadid

Tricia Shadid is a Peoria, Ill. native studying kinesiology and health with a pre-physical therapy option.

Tricia Shadid has always had an interest in sports, exercise, and health. After realizing that she wanted to turn these interests into a career, the Peoria, Ill. native decided to enroll in Iowa State University’s esteemed kinesiology program to earn her degree. 

Allie Lansman

Allie Lansman is a dietetics major from Fort Dodge.

After battling childhood obesity,  Allie Lansman decided to become a dietetics major to help others suffering with weight and weight related health issues. Her experiences, knowledge, and personal testimonies landed the Fort Dodge native a spot on The Biggest Loser as a youth ambassador from the National 4-H Healthy Living Management Team.

Cristobal Salinas

Cristobal Salinas is a Ph.D. student in higher education from Schuyler, Neb.

Cristobal Salinas wants to provide equity and justice through education. After meeting with faculty from the School of Education’s higher education program, the Schuyler, Nebraska native knew that Iowa State was the perfect place for him to earn a degree that will help him meet his goal.

Jenny Kersten

Jenny Kersten is a Fort Dodge native studying early childhood education.

Jenny Kersten is well on her way to becoming a passionate, effective teacher. Through her early childhood education courses, Jenny works with children and educators in the local area. During her time as a Cyclone, she has also achieved one of her ISU goals two times over – winning intramural championship T-shirts in basketball. 

Alex Howard

Alex Howard is an Erie, Ill. native studying early childhood education.

Alex Howard knew she found her home away from home the moment she laid her eyes on Iowa State’s beautiful campus. The Erie, Ill. native is now a senior in early childhood education, and she hopes to use her degree to become a preschool or kindergarten teacher.

McKenna Wragge

McKenna Wragge is Hampton native studying event management.

McKenna Wragge is a Hampton native in the event management program. The senior taking advantage of every opportunity she can in her last year as a Cyclone, from taking top-notch courses during the day to staying active in clubs and organizations at night. 

Melissa Sheret

Melissa Sheret is an event management major from Agoura Hills, Calif.

Melissa Sheret, a senior in event management, is taking full advantage of the hands-on experience Iowa State University and the surrounding community gives her. The Agoura Hills, Calif. native hopes her training and degree at ISU will turn into a career as an event planner in the music industry.

Gabriela Devine

Gabriela Devine is a senior in event management is from Marshalltown.

Gabriela Devine, a senior in event management from Marshalltown, is creating her own adventure at Iowa State. She participates in intramurals, volunteers at Village Enterprises, is involved with campus organizations like The Fashion Show, and is gaining experience in her field by working at the Memorial Union as a wedding coordinator.

Teegan Ebenhoh

Teegan Ebenhoh, a Cokato, Minn. native, is studying early childhood education.

Teegan Ebenhoh, a Cokato, Minn. native, is a senior in early childhood education. Teegan is taking full advantage of the hands-on experiences she is getting at Iowa State University. She hopes to use these experiences to teach a special education classroom after earning her degree. 

Meghan Peacock

Meghan Peacock is a senior in athletic training from Coggon.

Meghan Peacock is already preparing for her future career by networking with peers and professionals and serving Iowa State University. After graduation, the athletic training major from Coggon hopes to use the skills she gained in the university’s training rooms to work as an Athletic Trainer at a Division 1 school. 

Molly Neese

Molly Neese is an early childhood education major from Grand Junction.

After seeing that her program at Iowa State offered hands-on learning experiences, Molly Neese knew she wanted to earn her degree in Ames. Now, as a senior in early childhood education, the Grand Junction native can’t wait to take what she’s learned as a Cyclone and apply it to her own class of students.  

Tess Dusenberry

Tess Dusenberry, an Atlantic native, is studying hospitality management.

Tess Dusenberry’s passion for working with people led her to Iowa State University’s Hospitality Management Program. Now, the senior from Atlantic is making the most of her time as a Cyclone by joining a variety of clubs and organizations and sharing her experiences with others as a College of Human Sciences student ambassador. 

Alex Fruetel

Alex Fruetel is a St. Paul, Minn. native studying Athletic Training.

Alex Fruetel was instantly drawn to Iowa State University after her first tour on the beautiful campus. After learning that Iowa State’s Athletic Training Program was highly regarded and met her interests, the St. Paul, Minnesota native knew she was meant to be a Cyclone.

Rachel Boettcher

Rachel Boettcher is a senior in elementary education from Ogden.

Rachel Boettcher, a senior in elementary education, is taking full advantage of the hands-on opportunities her program at Iowa State University gives her. The Ogden native hopes her experience and degree from Iowa State will help her become an elementary teacher.  

Haleigh Smejkal

Haleigh Smejkal is a senior in event management from West Des Moines.

Haleigh Smejkal always knew she wanted to plan events. Now, the senior in event management is confident that the skills she takes away from the classroom and experiences she gains as an event coordinator intern will help her as a professional event manager.

Natasha Banks is taking advantage of the hands-on experience she is getting as a Cyclone. The event management senior from Marshalltown is taking what she’s learned in the classroom and is applying it to her summer internship with the College of Human Sciences.

Alison Tedrow, a Huntington Beach, Calif. native, knew Iowa State was the right university for her after visiting the gorgeous campus, meeting the helpful staff and students and finding the program that fit all her interests. 

Amici Valdez

Amici Valdez is a child, adult and family services major from Toledo.

Amici Valdez, a Toledo, Iowa native, always knew she enjoyed working with, helping and influencing others, but she never knew this passion would lead to a degree. After learning about the hands-on experience and knowledgeable professors in the Child, Adult and Family Services Department at Iowa State University, Amici knew she found where she belonged. 

Ryan Hollins

Ryan Hollins is a kinesiology major from Council Bluffs.

After being away from home while in the military, Ryan Hollins knew that he wanted to earn his kinesiology and health degree while being as close to his friends and family as possible. After learning about Iowa State University’s outstanding kinesiology and health program, Ryan knew that coming to ISU was the best decision he could make. 

Brianna Lewis

Brianna Lewis is a junior in kinesiology from La Marque, Texas.

Brianna Lewis didn’t know what to expect when she left her hometown, La Marque, Texas, to tour Iowa State University. She fell in love with  the campus’ beauty and the welcoming atmosphere. Now, as a junior in kinesiology, Brianna is making the most of her time as a Cyclone by joining a variety of clubs and organizations on campus and taking advantage of local internship opportunities.  

Cody Fountain

Cody Fountain is a senior in kinesiology from Chicago, Ill.

Cody Fountain, a Chicago, Ill. native, knew that he was destined to be a Cyclone after one welcoming visit to Iowa State University. Four years later, the senior in kinesiology and health is looking forward to earning his degree and furthering his education in graduate school.

Kaylee Spencer, an Altoona native, is a senior in kinesiology and health.

When Kaylee Spencer, a senior in kinesiology in health, visited Iowa State University, she fell in love with the large campus’ small-school atmosphere. After learning about the numerous academic opportunities the university offered, the Altoona, Iowa native knew that she could gain the most out of an education at ISU.

Zack Zenko is a Ph.D. student studying kinesiology and health from Levittown, Pennsylvania.

Zack Zenko, a Levittown, Pa. native, realized as an undergraduate student that his passions were in research and teaching. Now, Zack is a Ph.D. student in kinesiology and health, and hopes to use his graduate degree to become a university professor.

Kathryn Mettenburg

Kathryn Mettenburg, a Cedar Rapids, Iowa native, is a senior in kinesiology and health.

Kathryn Mettenburg knew she found her home away from home the moment she laid her eyes on Iowa State’s beautiful campus. The Cedar Rapids native is now a senior in kinesiology and health, and she hopes to use her degree toward becoming a practicing physician.

Gabrielle Bunten is a senior in kinesiology and health from Forest Lake, Minn.

After looking at the programs Iowa State University had to offer, Gabrielle Bunten knew that attending ISU was the best decision she could make. Now, the recent transfer student and senior in kinesiology and health is enjoying every minute of her Cyclone experience.

Zoe Babowice, a Libertyville, Ill. native, is a senior in kinesiology and health. Zoe is taking full advantage of the hands-on experience she is getting at Iowa State University. She hopes to use these experiences to teach abroad after earning her degree. 

Nolan Gall

Nolan Gall, a Dubuque native, is a senior in kinesiology and health at Iowa State. Nolan said he hopes to use his degree to help him continue his education and become a practicing physician.

Brian Stoskopf

Brian Stoskopf is a senior in kinesiology and health from Wilton.

Brian Stoskopf always dreamed of following his family’s footsteps by attending Iowa State University. The senior in kinesiology and health knew that he could make this dream a reality after seeing that his program was one of the best. Brian is hoping to use his degree to work as either a personal trainer or an exercise specialist in a assistance-living community.

Kyle Zankowski

Kyle Zankowski is a senior in kinesiology in health from Elburn, Ill.

After walking on to the Iowa State track and cross country teams, Kyle Zankowski, quickly learned that his passion was in physical fitness. Now, the Elburn, Illinois native is looking forward to graduating with a degree in kinesiology and health, a minor in exercise science, and endorsements in health and coaching.

Morgan Casey

Morgan Casey is a senior in kinesiology and health from Goose Lake.

Morgan Casey, a Goose Lake, Iowa native, knew she was ready to be a Cyclone after experiencing the laid back atmosphere of Ames. Morgan, a senior in kinesiology and health, hopes that her degree from Iowa State will help her achieve her goal of working in a major hospital.

Amber Noterman, a Rochester, Minn. native, is in the Iowa State\'s dietetics program.

Amber Noterman, a nontraditional student from Rochester, Minnesota, has always been interested in health and nutrition. After deciding to return to school full-time to study her passion, Amber knew Iowa State’s dietetics program was the perfect place for her.

Suzanne Markham Bagnera

Suzanne Markham Bagnera is a graduate student in the hospitality management program, from Boston, Mass.

Suzanne Markham Bagnera is a graduate student from Boston, Massachusetts. After seeing that Iowa State’s hospitality management program was highly ranked and the most flexible with her professional lifestyle, Suzanne knew that studying through ISU was the best fit for her.

Lauren Lagoo

Lauren Lagoo is a Hastings, Minn. native in the hospitality management program.

Lauren Lagoo is a Hastings, Minnesota native in the hospitality management program. The recent transfer student is taking in all she can as a new Cyclone, from joining clubs and organizations, to taking top-notch courses, to cheering on the Cyclones at sporting events. 

Dominique Williams

Dominique Williams is a junior in hospitality management and event management, from Davenport.

Dominique Williams is a junior double majoring in hospitality management and event management, from Davenport, Iowa. While at Iowa State, Dominique has spent his time trying to experience as much as possible. He is a member of more than 10 clubs and organizations and has recently returned from studying abroad in Italy.

Jon Bond

Jon Bond, a Clive native, is a senior in hospitality management.

Until he visited Iowa State, Jon Bond, a senior in hospitality management, dreamed of attending a university as far away from home as possible. When the Clive, Iowa native heard about ISU’s fantastic hospitality management program and saw the beautiful campus, he fell in love and knew that staying close to home would be much better than expected.

Jolyn Mortenson

Jolyn Mortenson is a Dietetics student from Carroll.

Dietetics student Jolyn Mortenson traveled from her hometown, Carroll, Iowa, for four weeks this summer on a study abroad experience in Peru. Mortenson learned a lot through her collaborations with both Peruvian and American students, as they focused on nutrition in the communities.

Yongfeng Ai

Yongfeng Ai, a Songxi, Fujian, China native, is a doctoral student in food science and technology.

Yongfeng Ai, Doctoral student in Food Science and Technology took time out of the research lab this summer for an internship. The three months of training along with an education at Iowa State has helped Ai learn many sides of the industry, which will help him with future careers.

Patrick Rabbitt

Patrick Rabbitt, a Greenfield native, is studying to become an elementary principal.

Patrick Rabbitt loves the challenges and opportunities that arise as an elementary teacher. After deciding that a career move would allow him to work with and influence more children, the Greenfield, Iowa native decided to enroll in Iowa State University’s educational administration program to become an elementary principal.

Aaron Justice

Aaron Justice is from Charleston, S.C. and is in the master of family and consumer sciences - family financial planning program.

Aaron Justice, a private banker from South Carolina, began taking Iowa State’s graduate distance courses to help prepare him for the CFP® exam. After realizing that the courses he enjoyed could be applied to a degree in Master of Family and Consumer Sciences - Family Financial Planning, he decided to continue his Iowa State adventure. Aaron hopes that he can use the knowledge he gains at Iowa State to help the clients in his workplace.

Keeley Hogan

Keeley Hogan is a graduate student in the Master of Family and Consumer Sciences - Family Financial Planning Program.

Keeley Hogan’s interest in financial planning began as an undergraduate student at Iowa State. After graduating with a degree in family finance, housing, and policy, Keeley decided to continue her Iowa State adventure by taking distance graduate courses to help her become a fully licensed financial planner.

Eric Shafer, a Grimes native, is studying for his Ph.D. in education with an emphasis on educational administration.

Eric Shafer, a Grimes, Iowa native, always had great school leaders to look up to as a student. Now that he’s studying for his Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis on Educational Administration, he hopes to become a leader that leaves a positive impact on students as well.

Susan Brennan

Susan Brennan, a Cottage Grove, Minn. native, is studying to receive her principal and special education administrator license.

Susan Brennan, a Cottage Grove, Minnesota native, is studying to receive her Principal and Special Education Administrator License through Iowa State’s Educational Administration Program. Along with her studies, Brennan is also working on a project that she hopes will expand teachers’ knowledge and skills for meeting the needs of diverse learners.

Justin Stockdale, a native of Dike, is studying to earn his Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) license.

Justin Stockdale, a native of Dike, Iowa, is studying to earn his Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) license. The former Panthers mascot and elementary education graduate of University of Northern Iowa knew that it was time to become a Cyclone when he learned Iowa State’s CAS program was the most accommodating to his busy schedule.

Elyse Brimeyer

Elyse Brimeyer is a graduate student in educational administration from West Des Moines.

From joining a sorority to accepting a marriage proposal at the campanile, Elyse Brimeyer’s experiences as an undergraduate student at Iowa State were memorable. While deciding where to earn her graduate degree in Educational Administration, the West Des Moines native said there was absolutely no question about whether to continue her adventure as a Cyclone.

Mary Grinstead

Mary Grinstead, a Beaman native, is a Ph.D. student in educational leadership.

Mary Grinstead, a Beaman native, hopes to never stop learning. After earning her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Mary would like to continue conducting research and become a professor at a university (Iowa State, in particular) and spread her love of learning to others.

Grace da Rosa

Grace da Rosa, a Ph.D. student in human development and family studies with a minor in gerontology, is from Brazil.

Grace da Rosa is a Ph.D. student in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in gerontology. The Brazil native not only stays busy with classes and extensive research, but is president of the Brazilian-Portuguese Association and member of Sigma Phi Omega as well.

Merea Bentrott

Merea Bentrott, a Huxley native, is a Ph.D. student in human development and family studies with a minor in gerontology.

For Merea Bentrott, a Ph.D. student in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in gerontology, opportunities on campus, such as becoming a graduate teaching assistant, have helped her gain the knowledge and experience required to land her dream career. Merea is now the Iowa Department of Aging’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman.

Terry Hornbuckle

Terry Hornbuckle, a student in the GP-IDEA program working toward a master\'s degree in gerontology, is from Newton.

Terry Hornbuckle is a student in the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (GP-IDEA) program working toward a master’s degree in gerontology. Her passion for mental health and aging has helped her earn a position at the Iowa Department on Aging, and after her experience with the state, the Newton, Iowa native plans to pursue a Ph.D. in gerontology to research or teach.

Joe Sample, a Ph.D. student in human development and family studies with a minor in gerontology, is from Pleasantville.

Charity White is a junior in dietetics from Boone, Iowa. The third year scholar is an avid learner, and this summer she put her education to use by participating in a study abroad program in Bangladore, India.

Dilaria Iassonova is a graduate student in food science and technology from Kazan, Russia.

Diliara Iassonova is attending Iowa State University to continue her education in Food Science and Technology. The Kazan, Russia native joined the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department in Spring 2002, got her Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology in 2004, and is currently in a Ph.D program in Food Science and Technology.

Kim Rohlfing

Kim Rohlfing is a graduate student in food science and technology from Nevada.

Kim Rohlfing is a Nevada, Iowa native attending ISU’s Food Science and Technology program. This graduate student wasn’t always sure she would be continuing her education in food science, however — she changed her major five times before settling in with the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department.

Christine Clarahan

Christine Clarahan is a senior in dietetics from Bettendorf.

Christine Clarahan is a dietetics major from Bettendorf, Iowa. The senior scholar plans to continue dietetics work at an internship at Cleveland Clinic.

Brianna Stone hasn’t eaten a VEISHEA cherry pie yet, but that doesn’t make her any less of an ISU student. The senior in child, adult, and family services from Johnston transferred to ISU for the hands-on learning opportunities. Participating in her major and extracurricular activities will make Brianna more competitive in the job market when she graduates.

Ali Irwin is a junior in early childhood education from Ida Grove.

Ali Irwin is a junior in early childhood education who is motivated by the people around her. The Ida Grove native is an avid learner and can’t wait to put her education to use. She’s also an active member of the Alliance for Disability Awareness club. And if she starts to do the “shopping cart”  at Dance Marathon, consider joining her.

Melissa Clucas

Melissa Clucas is a senior in early childhood education from Rochelle, Ill.

Melissa Clucas takes play very seriously. The senior in early childhood education (ECE) from Rochelle is interested in how children can learn even while at play. When she isn’t involved with the lab school, Clucas teaches dance in Ames. Leading by example is something few people do, but Clucas has mastered the art, as well as jazz hands.

Michelle Browning

Michelle Browning is a senior in child, adult, and family services from Houston, Texas.

Michelle Browning is one of those well-rounded people you hear about. The senior in child, adult, and family services (ChFS) with a Spanish minor splits her time as a student, mentor, athlete, and leader. The Houston native also has big expectations for herself and the ISU gymnastics team.

Chuy Cardoza

Chuy Cardoza, a senior in child, adult, and family services is from Muscatine.

Chuy Cardoza volunteers like it’s his job. From large events like the Special Olympics to spending time at the Heartland Senior services center, he’s done it all. Eventually, the senior in child, adult, and family services from Muscatine would like to turn the experiences he’s had volunteering into a career. Until then, he immerses himself in his studies and his slow pitch softball co-ed team.

Idalia Medina

Idalia Medina is a sophomore in early childhood education from the greater Chicago area.

Idalia Medina has the next seven years of her life all mapped out. The sophomore in early childhood education from the greater Chicago area wants to direct her own child care facility. With her diverse interests and experiences at Iowa State University, she is already well on her way. And if she asks you to bust a move, don’t be shy.

Emily Morgan

Emily Morgan is a junior in early childhood education from State Center.

Emily Morgan has done much in her three years at Iowa State University. The junior in early childhood education (ECE) from State Center is a College of Human Sciences Ambassador, a member of the Dance Marathon Families Committee, and a participant in the Honors Program. This past summer she traveled all over Europe applying what she has learned in her studies.

Janelle Blanco

Janelle Blanco is a sophomore in early childhood education from Burlington.

The Burlington native is a founding member of ISU Leaders in Education and Diversity (ILEAD), a George Washington Carver Scholar and mentor, and co-president of Alpha Lambda Delta/Phi Eta Sigma. Her education in the college of human sciences has taken her far, and she’s only a sophomore.

Zach McFall

Zach McFall, a senior in hospitality management, is from Kenosha, Wis.

As a self-described “foodie,”  Zach McFall has taken his passion for cooking, culinary creations, and business to the next level with his company “Rent-A-Chef,”  along with fellow student Jake Vermeer. The senior hospitality major from Kenosha, Wisconsin said this niche business may be starting out small, but is on the look out for bigger opportunities in the near future.

Angelica Reina, a doctoral student in Human Development and Family studies from Colombia, South America, is a recipient of the Iowa State University Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools Thesis Award. More than an award-winning piece of work, Reina says her thesis research highlights an important issue within the Latina/o population.

Duhita Mahatmya, a human development and family studies doctoral candidate, accepts the HDFS Emerging Professionals Award.

Duhita Mahatmya, a doctoral candidate in human development and family studies, said a research assistantship sparked her academic interest in the field and propelled her to continue on through her master’s to earn her doctoral degree.

Claire Dupey

Claire Dupey, a senior in early childhood education, is from Des Moines.

Just call her “twinkle toes.”  Claire Dupey, a senior early childhood education major, is from Des Moines. As a high school senior, she attended her first Iowa State University Dance Marathon, and was immediately hooked. Five years later, she’s gone above and beyond to make an impact on children and families of Iowa.

Darrin Vander Plas is a senior double major in kinesiology and agronomy from Preston, Minn. A trip to the Kamuli District in Uganda in June, 2008, forever changed the way Vander Plas approached the concepts of learning, service, community, and teamwork.

Jessica Galasso, a senior in apparel, merchandising, and design, is from Des Moines.

Jessica Galasso, a senior Apparel, Merchandising, and Design major from Des Moines, Iowa, took the road less traveled when it came to finding an internship. Galasso spent the summer of 2010 interning in Cape Coast, Ghana for the Global Mamas fair trade clothing company. A few months later, she was offered a full-time position with the company.

Lori McAlpin

Lori McAlpin, a senior in family and consumer sciences education is from Villisca.

Lori McAlpin is a senior family and consumer sciences education major from Villisca, Iowa. During a study abroad trip to Rwanda, McAlpin worked with underprivileged youth. That experience, she said, opened doors to her future career ambitions, working with teenagers in alternative schools who have faced challenges in their young lives.

Madalyn Schuman is a senior culinary science major from Muscatine. She recently completed an internship with August Home Publishing’s Cuisine at Home magazine, where she was a test kitchen intern. In addition to a great experience, Madalyn walked away from her internship a published culinary author.
