Outstanding Young Alumna Award

Established by the ISU Alumni Association in 1968 to recognize ISU alumni aged 40 who have excelled in their professions and provided service to their communities. A maximum of three awards are granted annually.

In a short time, Ann Schweer-Bachman has made tremendous differences in the lives of students and colleagues, locally and nationally. As an educator, her focus has been on the development of life management skills curricula, which have served as a model in the State of Illinois and nationwide. Currently the head of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences for the Public Schools in Lisle, Illinois, she also serves as president of the area’s teachers’ union, the Lisle Education Association. Her leadership has resulted in new and renovated facilities, additional resources, introduction of innovative curriculum, and continued enrollment increases.

Schweer-Bachman received her M.S. from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1989 and was certified by the American Home Economics Association as a certified home economist in 1987.
