B.S. Home Economics Education 1934

At the community, state, national, and international levels, Alice Van Wert Murray has devoted her time and energy to the welfare of individuals and families. A life member of the Associated Country Women of the World, she has participated in ACWW conferences throughout the world, promoting better international understanding, while helping women of all nationalities develop leadership skills.

The improvement of agriculture has been the focus of many of Murray’s efforts. As the manager of a farm operation, she has led the efforts of the Iowa Farm Bureau at county, district, and state levels. She helped create the farm family program for international students at Iowa State, and was a strategic player with her late husband, Bill Murray, in making Living History Farms become a reality. She also has given exceptional service to her college, the Alumni Association, and the ISU Foundation.
